CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada announced on Friday that Canada’s National Women’s Team will spend one week
in Jasper, Alta., prior to leaving for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
The National Women’s Team will be in Jasper from February 1-6. The team will practice daily at Jasper
Activity Centre Arena and will play one game on February 3, against the Midget AA Hinton McDonald’s
All-Stars, who are currently in third place in the Sturgeon Pembina Hockey League.
Tickets will only be available at the door on game day for $5, with children 12 and under getting in free.
Note that doors will open at 5:15 p.m. Proceeds will go to the Jasper Minor Sports Player Assistance
Fund.
“We’re excited and honoured that Canada’s National Women’s Team has chosen our community to hold its final
tuneup prior to the Olympic Winter Games,” says Doug McPhee, host organizer for the week in Jasper. “In true
Canadian spirit, we hope that the community of Jasper will prove to be an asset for Canada’s gold-medal
hopefuls.”
National Women’s Team schedule: January 31-February 6
(all practices and game at Jasper Arena)
February 1 – Practice from 3:30-5 p.m.
February 2 – Practice from 3:30-5 p.m.
February 3 – Game vs. Hinton Midget AA All-Stars at 6 p.m.
February 4 – Off day (no availability)
February 5 – Practice from 1:45-3:30 p.m.
Canada’s National Women’s Team will complete the NWT Midget Series on Friday, Jan. 29 with a game against
the Calgary Flames (7 p.m., Father David Bauer Olympic Arena). Canada is 16-9 thus far in the Midget Series
and 20-9 overall against Midget AAA competition this season. Friday’s game versus the Flames is sold out.
