BRENDAN MORRISON OF THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS ADDED TO OLYMPIC ORIENTATION CAMP; MARIO LEMIEUX WILL NOT ATTEND

VANCOUVER – Wayne Gretzky, Executive Director of Canada’s Men’s Olympic Hockey Team, along with Team Canada’s management and coaching staff, announced on Sunday that forward Mario Lemieux will not be attending Canada’s Olympic Orientation camp in Vancouver and Kelowna, August 15-19th due to commitments to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Team Canada’s management and coaching staff announced that forward Brendan Morrison, a native of Pitt Meadows, BC and a member of the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks, will be attending the orientation camp which begins Monday in Vancouver. Morrison has represented Canada on three occasions at the Men’s World Championship, including winning a gold medal in 2004 in Prague scoring 7 points in 9 games and winning a silver medal in Austria in May, 2005.

Canada’s Men’s Olympic Orientation camp begins in Vancouver at General Motors Place on Monday, with the NHL players practicing at 5:00pm PT, followed by Canada’s National Junior Team playing a Red/White game at 7:30pm PT.  Tickets for this event are still available via all Ticketmaster outlets.
